Building An Online Business Takes Time

Published by Scott under General

Don’t get discouraged about becoming successful online!

Building a fully automatic, passive income generating online business takes time. You have to nurture your ideas to help create winning info-products.

Find the problems of a niche market and offer the solution. This blog is my way of helping both you and me do just that. As I read, study and practice what I am taught I get more and more ideas flowing, this is good!

Let the ideas come out, allow yourself to think positively about your passions and interests; write this information down…. you will be amazed at what happens when you just ‘let it’.

By now you should be nearly finished your first product; if you have been working on what I talked about the other week, you should be nearing the final stages of making your first ebook.

Do you have it finished yet? Are you ready for the next step?

Oh…don’t worry if it is not perfect just yet, we’ll cover that!

How To Write Your First Ebook

Published by Scott under product creation

Are you stumped with the creative writing process? Here is a good strategy to use when planning & writing your ebook.

You need to have your subject matter first; I talked before about doing a ‘How To’ ebook on a subject that you are familiar with and enjoy.

So let’s use the example of: “How To Have A Better Vacation” as your theme.

So to build the ebook, you need to put down your thoughts in some logical order, so to do this start by making your list of tips for the “how to” article.

ie. “17 Mind Blowing Tips For A Better Vacation!”

If this was your ebook you obviously have 17 tips; start by writing these down. These will become the 17 chapters for your ebook.

Now under each one start putting (in point form) keywords & short phrases for what you want to cover in this chapter. These points that you add will be the ‘meat’ of each chapter.

Let’s use the example again…

Tip #1 For A Better Vacation – Pre-planning is Important!

  • Dog Kennel
  • Cancel Newspaper
  • Pay neighbour to mow lawn
  • Have monthly bills up to date
  • …and so on

Now do this for each tip! Once you have this in place it is simply a matter of putting the sentences together to form thought out, organized paragraphs!

EASY!

When you are finished we will move on to the next step.

Will Your Product Make You Money?

Published by Scott under product creation

Have you been following the last lesson? I hope so, now let’s move on to the next step in creating a desirable online info-product.

You should have been writing a basic “How To…” article on a subject in an area that you enjoy, a niche…something you have a passion for.

Once you have finished writing it is always best to take a break from the article and walk away from it for a day or two. This allows you to sit back down and reread what you actually put down in words. You will find grammar, spelling mistales, vague statements…. that’s ok. The exercise is to get you to pour your thoughts onto paper (or digital screen) not write the perfect prose…yet!

The burning question you will have while creating an info-product (ebook, audio, video series, etc.) is “Will your product make money?”

It will if there is a desire or need for it.

There are a number of methods we can use to help determine this (for a later article); however if you have chosen a ‘how to’ article on a subject you are interested/knowledgeable in, then you probably already know that it will be a desirable piece.

Remember a key thought when developing your info-product: Find a common problem and then create a product offering a solution.

It is so much easier for you to create a product on a subject that you are familiar with than try to jump into an unknown market, it’s common sense really, but many try just the same.

For example there is a huge market for ‘Internet Marketing’ & many people try to jump into this area after reading a few books… don’t! Those promoting their products are generally experts and the quality shows.

You are an expert in the areas you are passionate about; focus on this and you will succeed online!

Starting Your Online Business With Your First Product

Published by Scott under product creation

The first thing I am asked with I start to talk about my online empire is “where do I start?” or “What is the best thing to sell online?”.

Common questions really; I asked them to when I first started out. My answer is this: The best product in my opinion is an info-product (How to do something) that is generated on your computer and sold in digital format (I use .pdf files…more on that later)

A general rule I follow is to look at what I know about; what are my interests? This will form the basis for my online products, ebooks, videos…what ever I decide to promote.

First let’s cover a rule I have….. do not promote or sell garbage!

If you are attaching your name to a product and asking people to part with their hard earned cash, you need to be sure that the value is there and the product does exactly what you said it does in your ad.

I am throwing quite a bit at you I know. First let’s focus on part one of my basic formula:

1. Create valuable info-products to sell online.

I focus a lot on the martial arts industry, I am deeply familiar with it, am my own best customer & worst critic!

So how will you pick your first product?

a. Decide on your niche, focus on something you know a lot about, something you really enjoy doing.

Here is an example; say you have a green thumb, you are passionate about working flower gardens & in your years you have come pretty handy time saving ideas to better grow a flower garden.

What a perfect idea for a first product - 17 Handy Tips For A Better Flower Garden

It really is that simple to create a product, to generate product ideas. You are maybe thinking “well I don’t know that much about a subject; I am not an expert!”

You’re wrong. Sure you may not be selling your product to the president of the North American flower garden association; that’s not who you are going after anyhow! Your audience are those who are interested in learning more about the topic; in the above case you will be targeting newbie’s; those who are just starting out to build a beautiful flower garden.

If you have been doing topic X for 3 years then you certainly have more insight into topic X than someone who has only been doing it for 6 months.

You see where I am going with this?

  1. Find a topic you are passionate & well versed in.
  2. Start writing a ‘how to’ document about an area of your desired subject.
  3. Target the writing to someone who has less experience than you do.

Grab a piece of paper and start writing down a list of all the subjects you enjoy and that you know something about. Choose a topic and try this Headline for your title:

“______ ways to a better ___________”

Now start writing, don’t stop, don’t correct just start writing what ever comes into your head about this headline.

Let’s see where this takes us… when you finish writing; put down your pen or save your document and walk away. Take a break. We will revisit this area tomorrow!

So Where Do You Want To Start?

Published by Scott under product creation

This has been a long time coming; although I am sure I should have done it sooner.

My name is Scott; I am a part-time entrepreneur…. part time as I am working the bugs out of my online business. Want to come along for the ride?

I create and sell info-products in a small niche area, mostly (but not limited to) martial arts subjects.

The biggest hurdle I have come across is how to put one foot in foot of the other, in other words where to start. I am far from being an expert however I think if you are new to online product creation you may find what I have to say interesting…

Enjoy!
